Well, The Romantic is nearly ready to be born. The blurb for the back cover has been written this week (after some brow-beating and brain-clenching on my part, trying to get the tone right), the last changes are being taken in by a heroic typesetter somewhere, and next Thursday it goes to the printer. To the printer! Where it will become a real book.
Then nothing at all happens to it except it’s boxed and trucked and gets put on a shelf until September 27.
To calm my nerves I have just spent four hours filing five-year-old emails from the very festering depths of my inbox. Only 678 to go!
My second book. I have done a second book. Oh, PHEW.
